A famous ventriloquist is playing a gig in the Ozarks and because of the area, he decides to include a lot of hillbilly jokes in his act. After about a half hour of telling many hillbilly jokes and making negative references to hillbillies, he notices a man in the audience starting to get upset. The man is talking out loud and directing negative comments back at the stage. Finally the ventriloquist decides to stop his act and apologize to the man.
    He tells the audience that he didn't mean to offend anyone nor to insinuate that the people, who lived in the Ozarks and who were in the audience, were intellectually inferior and that no harm was meant by any of his material.
    The man, still upset over the act, yelled back, "I'm not mad at you sir, I'm upset with that little smart ass sitting on your knee."
